Jean-Frédéric Oberlin Museum

The subject of the Oberlin museum is Jean-Frédéric Oberlin (1740-1826), a pastor noted for his new approach to agriculture and teaching. He was also a forerunner of social Christianity.

Oberlin was a pastor at Ban de la Roche for 59 years

The Oberlin Museum pays tribute to the pastor Jean-Frédéric Oberlin, who tried to apply Christian principles to the economic, social, cultural and political life of Ban de la Roche ; by doing this he symbolized two school of thought typical of his time, on the one hand, the age of Reason with its desire for progress and on the other hand social Christianity, to which he gave his active support.

The museum reopened in June 2002 and much of it has been restored.
