This museum is in Jeanne d’Albret’s house (XVIth century), it deals with Protestantism in the Béarn and Adour region. There is a permanent exhibition about a long period, from the beginning of the Reformation Movement in Béarn in the reign of Jeanne d’Albret in the XVIth century, up until the XXth century. The museum is open all the year round, every day of the year, on Sundays and national holidays it is open from 10 to 12 and from 2p.m. to 6p.m. It is open to groups by appointment any day of the year.

The town hall has owned the museum since the spring of 2002. The association The Museum of Protestantism in Béarn runs the museum, and are trustees and owners of the collections.

A guided tour, lasting about one hour, gives one an idea of the main events in the history of Béarn ; emphasis is laid on some well known protestant personalities, from Jeanne d’Albret and Henri IV to the Cadier pastors. You will also hear about Jacques Abbadie, the Reclus family, Félix Pécaut, Eugène Casalis and some others.

There is a reconstruction of a XIXth century temple and also models of the University of Orthez, temples and a slave boat, so there is something for everyone, including children of 8 years and upwards.
